Enriching lives through architecture
DesignGroup Stapleton Elliot (DGSE), one of New Zealand's leading architectural practices, approached us to redefine their brand and create a website showcasing the beauty and intricate detail of their work. It was critical for their online presence to represent today’s architectural practices while offering a glimpse into DGSE’s future.

Redefining the brand's digital presence
Notably people-focused, DGSE’s team strives to enrich lives through architecture. The practice places a high value on collaboration and cultural competence, particularly regarding Aotearoa and tāngata whenua. This connective nature was less apparent in DGSE’s pre-existing online presence, so we planned to incorporate it into the new design in an appropriate and authentic manner.
Capturing a diverse target audience
Our work needed to capture the entirety of DGSE’s diverse target audience, which spans from government entities to homeowners. We embarked on an extensive brand development journey to propel DGSE into its ‘new age’.
Highlighting the duality of language
DGSE’s branding revamp went beyond visual manifestation and representation. Their values are embedded throughout their messaging which they wanted to present in Aotearoa’s mother tongue alongside English. We enlisted help from a native te Reo Māori speaker to ensure linguistic accuracy and serve DGSE’s diverse audience.
A sophisticated and intuitive experience
From a design and development standpoint, DGSE’s updated branding had to capture their entire audience, which includes individuals and organisations ranging from government entities to individual homeowners.
The final concept emulates the architectural foundations on which DGSE is built; minimal compositing, bold geometric elements, and clean typography. The branding is sophisticated, supported by delicate imagery and an intuitive website experience.
